CONSTITUTION

            The Rubber Board functions under the Ministry of Commerce of the Govt. of India.  The Board has a Chairman appointed by the Central Govt. He is the Principal Executive Officer responsible for the proper functioning of the Board and implementation of its decisions and discharge of its duties under the Rubber Act – 1982.

            There are 25 other members of the Board consisting of: -         

1)         2 Members to represent the State of Tamil Nadu, one of them shall be a          person representing rubber production interest.

2)         8 Members to represent the State of Kerala, 6 of them shall be representing the rubber production interest, 3 of such being persons representing the small growers.

3)         10 Members to be nominated by the Central Govt., 2 of whom shall represent the manufacturers and 4 laborers.

4)         3 Members of Parliament (M.P), the House of the People and 1 by the Council of States shall elect 2 of whom.

5)         The Rubber Production Commissioner of the Rubber Board (Ex-             Officio).

6)         The Executive Director (Ex-Officio).

 

One of the members is elected as Vice-Chairman on an annual basis. The Board meets periodically for transacting business.

 

            The Committees are formed to scrutinize various matters and make recommendation to the Board.  Besides the Executive Committee and the Research and Development Committee (Statutory Committee) the Board has 5 (five) other Committees :-

 

1.  Planting Committee

2.  Statistics and Import/Export Committee

3.  Market Development Committee

4.  Labor Welfare Committee

5.  Staff Affairs Committee
